Accounting competition for secondary schools

Department of Economic Studies of the College of Polytechnics Jihlava traditionally organizes the 12th year of the "Bookkeeping versus Accounting" for final-year students of secondary vocational schools. The competition is organized under the auspices of the Rector, Assoc. Ing. Zdeněk Horák, Ph.D.

Date of the 12th edition: 15thJanuary 2026

Venue: VŠPJ Jihlava, Tolstého 16, Jihlava

No entry fee required. This event is free of charge for secondary schools.

Registration HERE. Registration runs until and including November 12, 2025.

The competition is organised in teams of three members who will work together on a professional test focused on secondary-school-level accounting. Each secondary school may register up to two teams. Additional teams may also register as substitutes; they will be included in the competition in case of free capacity. Substitute teams will be admitted in the order in which they registered. All participants will be informed in due time.

 

The test will be competed using LMS Moodle VŠPJ. Therefore, each team is kindly asked to bring at least one laptop.

It is pleasing to note that every year, many participants later become students of the College of Polytechnics Jihlava — in 2019, for example, up to one third of the contestants. Similar results have been achieved in subsequent years. The competition has thus become an important motivational tool for applicants considering our university..

On 9 January 2025, under the auspices of the Rector, Assoc. Prof. Ing. Zdeněk Horák, Ph.D., the College of Polytechnics Jihlava hosted the 11th edition of the “Bookkeeping vs. Accounting” competition. A total of 42 final-year students from eight secondary vocational schools in the Vysočina and Central Bohemia Regions took part..

Out of 14 competing teams, first place was awarded to students from the Grammar School and Business Academy Pelhřimov, second place went to students from Bráfova Academy Třebíč, and third place to students from the Business Academy, College of Social and Health Care, Secondary School of Social Services, Jihlava. The winning team from Pelhřimov surpassed last year’s record success rate and became the overall champion of the competition in its entire history..

Other participants included students from the Technical and Economic Secondary School in Chotěboř, Business Academy Neveklov, Grammar School and Secondary Vocational School Telč, Secondary Industrial School Žďár nad Sázavou, and the Secondary School of Business and Services SČMSD, Žďár nad Sázavou, s.r.o.

The winning team received Lenovo tablets. The exclusive sponsor of the 11th edition was VŠPJ’s strategic partner Gordic s.r.o., with additional prizes provided by the College of Polytechnics Jihlava.
